Surventis Launches as Independent Company

Surventis (Muenster, Germany), formerly BASF Coatings, has officially launched as an independent company, completing its carve-out from BASF effective July 1. With approximately €3.9 billion in annual sales and around 10,700 employees, Surventis ranks among the world's leading suppliers of automotive coatings and surface treatment solutions. The business is majority-owned by funds managed by global investment firm Carlyle, in partnership with the Qatar Investment Authority, while BASF retains a 40% stake in the new company.

Alongside the launch, Surventis unveiled its new corporate brand and identity, intended to reflect a business built on strong science, continuous innovation and the momentum of operating as a newly independent, technologically driven company working closely with its partners. Its new website went live at www.surventiscoatings.com.

Despite the new name and identity, Surventis will continue developing, producing and marketing coatings and surface treatment solutions for industrial, automotive and refinish customers worldwide under brands including Chemetall, Glasurit and R-M. The company serves more than 42,000 customers across 140 countries from a network of more than 30 production and development sites.

As a standalone company, Surventis aims to operate with greater speed, agility and focus, with Carlyle supporting targeted investment in its global capabilities and local operations. CEO Jens Luehring called the launch an exciting new chapter built on more than 130 years of coatings expertise, emphasizing that customers will benefit from a faster, more focused partner and stating the company's ambition to become the leading coatings technology company.

The company's products, technologies, brands, and technical teams remain unchanged, ensuring continuity for existing customers.

Surventis's executive committee is led by Luehring and includes CFO Michael Pontzen, Chief Transformation Officer Ewout van Jarwaarde, EVP Operations Mobility/Refinish Nils Lessmann, and the heads of its three business units: Frank Naber (Surface Treatment), Patrick Zhao (Mobility Coatings) and Steve Arndt (Refinish Coatings).
