PPG Commits $10 Million to Skilled Trades Training

Posted on Wednesday, June 10, 2026

PPG (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and the PPG Foundation announced a $10 million global commitment through 2030 to support skilled trades education and workforce development, with an emphasis on advanced manufacturing and coatings applications. The funding will help students gain hands-on technical training through partnerships with vocational schools, community colleges and workforce development organizations.

The initiative supports industries facing increasing demand for skilled workers in coatings, collision repair and manufacturing. Programs receiving support include automotive painting training in Finland and Brazil, industrial skills competitions in China, vocational training for disadvantaged young adults in California and laboratory technician education in Pittsburgh.

PPG previously exceeded a $2 million workforce training commitment announced for 2023–2025. According to the company, the expanded investment reflects its ongoing effort to create sustainable career pathways while addressing workforce shortages in the manufacturing and coatings sectors.

The announcement also coincides with the PPG Foundation’s 75th anniversary in the U.S.
