PPG to Debut Industry-First Powder Coating Technology at Powder Coating 2019

Posted on Friday, March 22, 2019

PPG (NYSE:PPG) announced that it will debut its new line of PPG ENVIROCRON™ Extreme Protection Edge coatings at Powder Coating 2019 at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld in Florida, April 1-4.

Featuring a patent-pending, advanced powder coating formulation developed by PPG, the coatings mark a significant technical advancement by combining uniform edge coverage and exceptional corrosion protection in a primerless, one-coat system.

“We’re extremely excited to present this new technology at the Powder Coating conference,” said Shelley Verdun, PPG global product manager, powder coatings. “These coatings are the first in the industry to successful unite edge coverage and superior corrosion protection in one-coat, direct-to-metal systems. We are eager to demonstrate the benefits they offer to our colleagues at one of the industry’s premier technical forums.”

PPG Envirocron Extreme Protection Edge coatings are specially formulated to the cover the sharp edges of parts created during metal fabrication. These edges historically have been vulnerable to corrosion when exposed to salt, moisture and other environmental hazards.

As one-coat systems, PPG Envirocron Extreme Protection Edge coatings can be applied without modification to existing coating lines while eliminating the need to finish edges with mechanical edge-rounding or blasting equipment. The coatings are fully reclaimable and offer manufacturers the potential to reduce warranty claims and improve resale value by extending the life of coated parts.

PPG also will participate in the technical program at Powder Coating 2019. Scott Moffatt, PPG market manager, architectural coil and extrusion coatings, will present “Architectural Powder Applications in the Monumental Building Market” during a breakout session from 1:30-3 p.m. on April 4. Moffatt will discuss the increased use of powder coatings for interior and exterior aluminum extrusion applications.

Sponsored by the Powder Coating Institute (PCI), Powder Coating 2019 features general and breakout sessions covering aspects of powder coating as well as a tabletop exhibition.
