The Value of Getting Involved
Midwest Finishing Systems Inc. has been actively involved with the Powder Coating Institute (PCI) since the early 1990s. We strongly believe in the value of trade associations and the credibility they bring to each member company. When speaking with potential customers, we proudly highlight our PCI membership and often encourage them to connect with other member companies as they evaluate their projects.
When I became involved with PCI, I immediately joined the Education Committee with the goal of learning from some of the best professionals in the industry. The opportunity to share experiences, exchange ideas and identify best practices has been invaluable. Through education, we empower customers to make informed decisions that benefit both their immediate needs and their long-term business goals.
As a PCI member, we take full advantage of the many resources available. These include educational programs and hands-on workshops offered throughout the year, as well as the Technical Conference during Powder Coating Week. PCI also provides valuable technical resources such as the Powder Coating Handbook, Technical Briefs, and practical troubleshooting guidelines that support ongoing professional development.
Membership also offers numerous opportunities for involvement through various committees, including Education, Certification, Membership, Promotion and Technical. While I have personally experienced the benefits of participating in the Education Committee, I encourage every member to explore the committees that align with their interests and goals to maximize the value of their membership.
Our membership has also provided meaningful networking opportunities with other industry professionals. These connections have expanded our resources, benefiting not only our company but also our employees and customers. It is truly rewarding to be part of an organization dedicated to promoting powder coating, advancing the industry and fostering lasting professional relationships.
PCI continues to expand its initiatives and member engagement. Custom Coaters Peer Groups are growing and provide a forum to share practical experiences and best practices. The Technical Committee is concentrating on promoting powder coating on alternative substrates, including MDF and wood.
I encourage all members to become actively involved in PCI and take advantage of the many opportunities available. The more engaged you are, the greater the benefits you and your company will gain from your association.
