Membership Memo—A Collaborative Community
Posted on Wednesday, August 20, 2025
When I entered the finishing industry five years ago, I knew very little about the industry or its inner workings. And, while aware I was stepping into a space where women have historically been underrepresented, I also knew I had something valuable to contribute. As a woman in a leadership role, I’ve learned that confidence, preparation, and deep product knowledge are key to earning respect in any environment. You have to believe in your expertise, speak with clarity, and back it all up with real value. That’s how we break barriers and reshape perceptions.
One of the most meaningful aspects of my journey has been the support I’ve found along the way. From educational events to trade shows, the opportunities for learning and networking have been incredibly impactful. As a newcomer, I didn’t know what to expect, but I quickly found that the finishing industry—especially communities like the Powder Coating Institute—is far more welcoming and collaborative than competitive. The conversations, resources, and connections I’ve gained through PCI have not only helped me grow professionally but have instilled a deep sense of belonging that I hadn’t anticipated. This inspired me to one day contribute back as a mentor and thought leader to become a sounding board and source of inspiration for others.
As CEO of Troy Chemical, I take great pride in leading a company that understands we’re more than just a supplier, we’re true partners in our customers’ success. That type of mindset starts with cultivating a culture of collaboration and reliability within our own team. From troubleshooting challenges to optimizing performance and training our customers, our approach is rooted in service. For us, it’s not just about chemistry, it’s about showing up, sharing knowledge, and building trust through innovation, education, and teamwork. We find that our approach fits perfectly with the collaborative and educational culture at PCI.
As I continue my journey in this industry, I’m grateful for the guidance and inspiration I’ve found within the PCI community. I look forward to the day when I can pay it forward—not only as a mentor but as someone who helps open doors for others. Because when we support each other, we all rise.
