BASF Raises Acrylic Monomer Prices in North America
BASF Corp. (Southfield, Michigan) has increased selling prices for several acrylic monomers in North America, effective immediately and subject to individual customer contracts. The company cited continued increases in raw material, energy, and logistics costs as the basis for the adjustments.
The specific increases include $0.12 per pound for 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, methyl acrylate and ethyl acrylate. Glacial acrylic acid will see a smaller increase of $0.09 per pound. BASF said customers should contact their account managers for details on how the changes apply to their specific agreements.
BASF's announcement follows similar pricing actions by other chemical suppliers responding to persistent cost pressures in energy and feedstocks. The increases reflect ongoing tightness in the acrylic acid supply chain, where propylene feedstock costs, energy-intensive production processes and logistics constraints have combined to drive up input costs industry-wide.
