Axalta Coating Systems, a supplier of liquid and powder coatings, celebrated 50 years of commercially produced latest generation powder coatings this past November, making it one of the oldest powder coating manufacturers in the world. Axalta got its start in commercial powder coatings in 1964 with the acquisition of the Teodur brand that had been manufactured by Wagemakers Lekbrieken, a Dutch family-owned paint company founded in 1848 that sold its first architectural grade thermosetting powder at its site in Teodur.

“Axalta Coating Systems is honored to have such rich history, vast experience and great success in powder coatings throughout these fifty years,” says Michael Cash, president of industrial coatings. “It keeps us motivated each day to continue the legacy by offering great products to our valued customers around the world.”

In other Axalta news, the company launched a blog that focuses on color titled, Color Block, to highlight its Automotive Color of the Year campaign. Axalta executives and fourtime NASCAR® Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon and Ray Evernham, threetime NASCAR champion crew chief and host of Velocity’s television show, Americarna revealed Axalta’s 2015 color of the year, Radiant Red, at SEMA 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Radiant Red debuted on the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet SS driven by Gordon.

“We are excited to launch Color Block. This is a great opportunity for Axalta to continue to share our automotive color expertise and invite experts from an array of fields to discuss the relevance of red in their industries,” says Nancy Lockhart, Axalta color marketing manager.

The blog will feature posts from experts in a range of industries, including fashion, interior design, architecture and cosmetology to name a few. Axalta’s own color experts Nancy Lockhart and Dan Benton will post blog articles as well.
